- Hosting external lecturers to deliver lectures on specific subjects to undergraduate and postgraduate students and proposing appropriate rewards in accordance with financial regulations.
- Implementing decisions of the University Council and the College Council concerning the department.
- Managing the department or branches from scientific, administrative, educational, cultural, financial, and technical aspects, as well as student affairs.
- Supervising the teaching processes, teaching methods, and ensuring that faculty members fulfill their duties.
- Preparing quarterly and annual scientific reports on the department’s activities and submitting them to the dean.
- Developing student training programs.
- Guiding university theses based on the development needs of the country.
- Recommending the appointment of a department chairman and their deputy in their absence.
- Forming the examination committee within the department.
- Nominating postgraduate students applying for studies in the department or scientific branches, following approval by the scientific committee and alignment with the university’s admission criteria.
- Recommending the addition, deletion, or modification of curriculum subjects for postgraduate students, aiming to enhance the academic level and keep pace with developments, subject to the College Council’s approval.
- Presenting research to scientific committees for academic promotion and recognition.
- Allocating students to training sites and distributing supervision among department staff, issuing necessary administrative orders accordingly.
- Recommending the issuance of administrative orders related to academic assignments and additional lectures based on actual needs and compliance with university regulations, after approval by the College Council.
- Supervising academic affairs of students at various stages of their studies.
- Recommending experts for consideration in the academic promotions of department faculty.
- Assigning any of the teaching staff to perform teaching duties as needed, regardless of the specific authority designated by other entities.
- Approving teaching staff members to deliver lectures in programs or courses of other departments.
- Approving the nomination of teaching staff members to participate in technical, administrative, and scientific committees.
- Directing inquiries to teaching staff members in case of absence or lateness from lectures and resolving their inclinations.
- Chairing the department’s scientific committee.
